Don't Drive on Dangerous Tires

Every season is driving season. Even though we typically drive more miles in the summer since the weather is better, improperly maintained tires not only decrease the performance of your vehicle, but they can pose a danger no matter what season we’re in. There are a few things you can do to with your own tires to minimize the risk.

Tires are designed to operate at their optimal air pressure. Checking and adjusting the air pressure to proper levels maintains proper fuel economy, tire structure, and grip on the road. Tires that don’t grip may lead to slippage and cause you to hit curbs and other obstacles that will cause a blowout. Tire tread that measures less than 4/32 of an inch also increases the risk of a blowout due to increased weak points.

However, sometimes it’s better to have an expert to give you a second opinion on the condition of your tires. Take your vehicle to Volvo Cars of Santa Monica and we’ll inspect your tires to give you a piece of mind that they are safe and ready for the road. We’re conveniently located in Santa Monica, so contact us today for a priority appointment!
